Hoots Snacks invited me to create a canapé or dipping recipe using one of their 5 baked wholegrain snacks which are available in either salt & pepper, smoked bacon, salt & vinegar, pickled onion or cheese & onion and are both suitable for vegetarians and vegans. I decided to use the salt & pepper snack and created a recipe using beetroot, mushrooms and dill. The topping also works really well with gluten-free toast or crostini if following a free from diet. In advance of the hangout, we each received 2 very intriguing substantial gift boxes brimming with free from products - with instruction not to open them until the right points of the discussion - this made the curiousity excruciating and I was desperate to see what was in ... The Guardian, Cook Supplement: Lavender Shortbread With Homemade Orange Curd.

Today my gluten-free lavender shortbread with homemade orange curd recipe features in The Guardian and is my modern twist on the classic Jammie Dodger. Dale Berning Sawa of The Guardian described it as “ an elegant take on the Jammie Dodger. Punching out the holes seemed to me a step too far. In fact, I didn’t even bother with the sandwiching: I was perfectly happy just to dunk the biscuits in the curd." The recipe can be found here. Continue Reading

Morrisons pushing the free from industry.

This week I was invited to attend a free from event at Morrisons head quarters alongside a select group of likeminded individuals all with a keen interest in this thankfully ever expanding free from market. Eager to discover more about Morrisons and in particular, its vision for the free from sector, I listened with great interest of their obvious passion to get this sector to the forefront of the Morrisons shelves, competing along side some of the big guns such as Coca Cola with their ... We are extremely gratefull for the provision of this service and hope it will continue indefinitely. This said, change is afoot across the country and appears to vary considerably. In the Vale of York they have approved the ... Continue Reading
