Schhh…its a secret!

Last night I had the pleasure of being invited to Schär’s secret Italian Pop Up Restaurant in Knutsford, Cheshire where they were showcasing their new fresh pasta range.

With curiosity and anticipation of what the evening was going to behold, my husband and I were greeted at the iconic venue which was formerly the crown court and appropriately called ‘The Courthouse’.

We were then escorted to our table and despite it being difficult not to be sidetracked by the beautiful room, we sipped cocktails and mocktails whilst sampling Schär’s ‘Best in Class Breads and Grissini served with oils and dips. They were all delicious and I would challenge anyone to realise they were gluten-free. One to remember for family gatherings, parties and picnics as Schär products have always featured consistently in our house for my coeliac son.

Next on the menu were three fresh pasta dishes, Schär Tagliatelle all’uovo with truffle emulsion, parmesan and soft herbs, Schär con ricotta e spinach ravioli with pesto and sun blushed tomatoes and lastly Schär tortellini con prosciutto crude with a cheese sauce and rocket.

The tagliatelle was cooked to perfection, had great texture and was complimented with the rich truffle and parmesan emulsion. A simple combination of ingredients yet they packed some robust flavours. Our mouths were watering long before this course arrived as our eyes were drawn to other tables of people eagerly tucking in.

The second dish to arrive was equally delicious. Pillows of Schär ravioli were full to bursting with the ricotta, spinach and sun blushed tomatoes. I could definitely see this dish being a firm favourite in our house.

To complete this trio of Schär fresh pasta dishes, we dined on my favourite of the three, the tortellini which was creamy and indulgent – perfect comfort food in my opinion and again, one to keep handy in the fridge for a quick midweek meal.

We were really impressed with the main courses that is until the dessert arrived and took the top spot for yumminess. Any dessert that includes chocolate in my eyes is a certified winner, so the chocolate O cheesecake went down a treat. It consisted of a white chocolate mousse, biscuit base chocolate sauce on top and was both light as a feather and extravagant, needless to say we devoured it in no time. What a melting pot of flavours we experienced!

And so, to round the evening off, we collected a goody bag of Schär products on our way out. Thanks for a really enjoyable evening Schär, I can’t wait to see what other new products you bring out in future.
