Happy Days!

Auto-immune, coeliac, gluten-freeNow I really haven’t been expecting delivery of a fluffy rabbit or cuddly pooch much to my 3 little musketeers continual pleas and negotiation. This intriguing box arrived courtesy of Udi’s Gluten-Free Food containing a colourful array of gluten-free goodies presented in an attractive hamper box. By the way, I loved the attention to detail as a hand-written welcome note had been written on a luggage tag nestled on top of the food, It’s the little things…

For those that haven’t discovered Udi's Logo before, they are the new gluten-free kids on the block in the UK, though the number one gluten-free brand in the United States.

Now, our middle child, William has never been good at containing his excitement or patience around birthdays and Christmas, so the hamper was opened immediately with the same vigour as an over-excited puppy. After numerous questions asked by William about the Udi's Logo hamper, well 3 questions repeated on a loop to be precise, we decided to sample the Chocolate Chip and Toffee Flavoured Muffins which came hand in hand within the same packaging. Great for sharing and also if you lean towards indecision like me!

Auto-Immune, coeliac, gluten-freeThe very first thing that struck me as I opened the wrapper was the delicious smell that oozed from these little sweet treats, we were off to a good start. Perfect size for little hands to hold and devour, equally, a sizeable treat for all ages. Silence ensued as we devoured them, I need to explain, this doesn’t happen often with William let me tell you. Even he will say that he is like a little radio without an “off” button!

Whilst some muffins can leave you feeling full to bursting, these were light and moist in texture. The Chocolate Chip one was evenly studded with chocolate chips and the toffee one was generously flavoured. Gluten-free? Of course and you wouldn’t know the difference.

Several days later we went on a long car journey so I let William choose the next products to try out on our little adventure. I was interested to see which ones he would go for. He chose the Jalapeño Ancient Grain Crisps and Ancient Grain Aged Cheddar Crisps. My preference was the Jalapeño ones as they had a cheeky kick, even our 19 month old sampled a couple, not deterred by either of their robust flavours!

In my opinion they would also make great crisps to have at parties as I think they would work well paired with salsa and a variety of gluten-free dips or alternatively I also experimented using the Aged Cheddar crisps crumbled up on top of Macaroni Cheese to give it another dimension.

Follow us on our next journey soon as we take Udi's Logo on holiday, but which products will we be taking with us, decisions? Just hoping we survive the flight with a 5 and 4 year old as well as a 19 month old toddler! See you on the other side…Adeus!
