Review: Amy’s Kitchen Products.

Amy's Kitchen, glutenfree, coeliac, ready mealsI was invited to sample several of Amy’s Kitchen ready meals, perfectly timed for Coeliac Awareness Week 2015. Committed to “using only the finest grains, fruits and vegetables”, all the meals are exclusively vegetarian with no meat, fish, poultry or eggs used in the cooking process. The gluten free dishes are all certified by Coeliac UK which is also reassuring to discover.

Amy's Kitchen, glutenfree, coeliac, ready mealsI opted to try the Vegetable Lasagne and was also curious to see how the Breakfast Sandwich faired as this is not something I have ever considered or really come across before.

Packaged in a dinky square box, the breakfast sandwich would make a perfect breakfast meal for those on the move or travelling, when you can’t be sure there will be a gluten free option. Boasting gluten, dairy, lactose and tree nut-free as well as being suitable for vegans, it was packed with lots of layers of flavours and textures. The bread bun was robust enough to hold the scrambled tofu and meatless sausage fillings together. The meatless sausage was my favourite part but if I am being honest tofu is not really my cup of tea, however my little one thoroughly enjoyed it.

Moving on to the Vegetable Lasagne, I really liked this meal and did not miss the meat in the slightest. It was generously packed full of spinach, courgettes and carrots with a punchy serving of black pepper, my favourite! This meal was free from gluten, soy and tree nuts.

Amy's Kitchen, glutenfree, coeliac, ready mealsThe Chinese Noodles and Veggies went down a treat too, not least by the two year old who spotted all the edamame beans and broccoli…only his two favourite foods in the whole wide world! A win win situation for us as well as Amy’s Kitchen who took the top spot at this years FreeFrom Awards with this product in the ‘Veggie Ready Meals’ category. Free from gluten, dairy and lactose but certainly not lacking in flavour, this meal is also suitable for vegans.

Amy's Kitchen, glutenfree, coeliac, ready mealsAside from the meals that I tried, the brochure that accompanied the products really spoke to me as a graphic designer. Not only did it feel like a high quality product, it reinforced to me their company values and commitment to this wholesome family business and their belief, passion and enthusiasm is evident on every page.

Amy’s Kitchen can be found in many local shops including these markets found here:
