The Curly Wurly Pretzel (GF)
Of all the things that William has made, baked and prepared so far at school baking club, THIS has to be mine and William’s favourite. He is partial to the bought gluten-free pretzel variety but this week he actually got to make his own. Carefully wrapped up to transport home and pop in the oven, William described how they had made their very own pretzel.
All 4 children on Williams table used the same gluten-free ingredients. He said they first added gluten-free flour, yeast and sugar to their individual bowls. They then each added an egg which had been poured into a cup so that they could individually pour it in themselves.
They mixed it altogether until it became a firm dough and turned it out on to their mats to roll into a long sausage shape. With a little guidance from the teachers, they made them into a pretzel shape to bring home and bake in the oven.
“Mummy, I couldn’t stop giggling as the teacher twisted the dough into a pretzel shape, we all got REALLY messy!“
